This 6.5km extension of the DLR network in East London was proposed to extend from Gallions Reach in Newham to a new terminus at Dagenham. Temple completed the specialist studies and delivered the EIA and ES as part of the TWO application to a challenging timescale.Temple was engaged in consultation with over 100 consultees, including statutory agencies, local communities and affected parties.The scheme was deferred during 2008/09 and is now being progressed as an extension of the London Overground network at Barking Riverside. Key responsibilities included streamlining the on-site laboratory chemical scheduling system to facilitate high- volume sample analysis, ensuring the efficient re-use of soils on-site and verification/validation of data management, including reporting and interpretation of high-volumes of chemical data and contributed to the‘Quality Control’ procedures. Our ability to quickly assess large volumes of technical data to ensure soils were appropriately managed, with minimal impacts to the construction programme was significant. Temple also had responsibility for occupational health monitoring and assisted the contractor in the formulation of safe working practices for work in highly contaminated areas.
